Mission Statement

Hillsborough Educations Foundation’s mission is to strengthen the bridge between our community and Hillsborough Township Public Schools by encouraging community involvement and financial support to enhance public education for students at all levels.

Our History

Hillsborough Education Foundation (HEF) has been a part of the Hillsborough, NJ community since 1996. It was created in response to a community initiative that included the identification and prioritization of the needs of the public school system.

At that time, the most pressing of these needs was the hard wiring of the schools for computers. This was accomplished with funding from, as well as manpower recruited by, the HEF.

One of HEF’s initial grants funded a Robotics Club – a group that has expanded significantly over the years. Since then we have supported a wide range of innovative programs in the elementary, middle and high schools as well as awarded grants for a variety of classroom initiatives. Grants have included funding presentations by nationally acclaimed poets, school enhancements, partnering with other organizations to fund the building of an artificial turf field at the high school, and supporting summer programs for teachers.

Our core programs include awarding scholarships for post-secondary education to graduating seniors. Since its inception, HEF has not missed a year in which it has given one or more scholarships to deserving students. Total grants to date exceed a quarter million dollars.
